Discussing Kenya's Health Sovereignty Agenda at the Africa Forward Summit

Dr Nicholas Muraguri, Advisor on Global Health Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spoke on Radio Generation's The People's Breakfast on the transformative agenda that the Africa Forward Summit brings to Kenya's health and development priorities. Dr Muraguri centred the conversation on a clear shift in how Africa approaches its partnerships - away from aspirational dialogue and toward concrete, time-bound commitments. Anchoring his remarks in Kenya's Vision 2030, he highlighted pharmaceutical production as a cornerstone of the country's national development agenda and called for accelerated action at both the national and regional levels before the 2030 deadline. On accountability, he was direct: "This is moving away from just 'story' to action. We are demanding action on both ends; from our partners, whether it's government, the private sector, or investment banks, but also on the end of the government. It is a shared responsibility." Looking ahead to the #AfricaForward Summit on 11–12 May 2026, Dr Muraguri signalled that delegates can expect specific, actionable announcements, spanning Health and AI, the Blue Economy, and green energy investments, with clear deliverables, timelines and country-level impact.
